Role: Java Intern
Location: Canary Wharf, London
As leaders in Identity and Access Management, Pirean creates user experiences for some of the world’s leading companies. We ensure workforces and customers have access to the applications they need at anytime from anywhere.
We're looking for bright, enthusiastic interns to become part of our team in London's Canary Wharf.
For this internship, good candidates will be recent Computer Science graduates, or have demonstrable equivalent programming experience, to help us engineer future releases of our award winning Access: One platform.
It is essential you are experienced with Java and have a good theoretical knowledge of the software engineering lifecycle to succeed on the internship.
We won't expect you to have all of the coding or technical skills outlined below, but these are desirable for us if you have experience and are areas you can expect to develop during the internship.
Spring Framework and Spring MVC
Understanding of dependency injection and the MVC (Model View Controller) design pattern will be a great advantage in understanding our codebase.
JUnit, Cucumber, TDD/BDD
We’re rolling out TDD and BDD practices across the team; so JUnit test authoring will be a key skill you will sharpen or develop during the internship.
GIT source control and ticketing systems
Hands-on experience with any source control systems will be a plus, but specifically GIT will be looked upon favourably.
Gradle, Jenkins, CI
We automate our Java builds using Gradle and Jenkins to form our Continuous Integration pipeline. We don’t expect you to have these skills but a desire to learn them is key.
Organised, Realistic, Goal Oriented
The best skills in the world are of no use if they cannot be applied and utilised in a way that delivers value as and when it is required. You will be able to set yourself realistic and challenging deadlines, be able to stay organised and on target even when deadlines loom over you.
Dynamic, Self-Starter, Driven, Positive
You will often face challenges, a key skill is the way in which you address these challenges. We will always provide you with the support you need, but we really want people who can identify solutions and crack on with getting them done.
Literate, Succinct, Capable, Likeable
You should be able to clearly convey your needs in a way that others can understand and easily engage with you to help you achieve your goals.
As a part of our team you will get support from all members of the company, from the creative department to the management team. You will be provided with all the tools you need and the opportunity to work autonomously in order to really show off your capability in your role.
If you have successfully proved your self during your initial term, you will be considered for a permanent position - the opportunity to build a career with the company and the chance to have your thoughts and ideas shape the future roadmap of our products.
