Mendeley is a global research and collaboration platform with nearly 2.5 million users worldwide. We’re an academic social network, often called “The Facebook for Scientists,” but really we’re much more than that! We have a set of free software tools that make researcher’s lives easier by speeding up their workflow and helping them to keep organised. With Mendeley you can easily import all your PDFs into a searchable library, make annotations, manage your bibliography and citations, etc. All in the cloud, which means you can always access your research information wherever you are, on any device. Mendeley also has an open API, which means that 3rd party developers can build apps on our platform, and we currently have nearly 300 of those. In 2013 Mendeley joined one of the world’s largest scientific publishers, Elsevier. This means that some of our ambitions and projects got a lot bigger, but it hasn’t stopped us from being Mendeley! We still work like a start-up, with a small close-knit team and a separate brand. We talk to our users all the time, finding out how we can make the product better for them, and that’s really hard work, but we also have a lot of fun in the process!
